Shoulder Plastic Surgery
Shoulder plastic surgery (or arthroplasty) can relieve severe shoulder pain by replacing the damaged joint. It is a major operation and has some risks but most people recover well. Your surgeon will discuss the possible complications before you have the operation.어깨필러
Before surgery, you will have blood tests and a heart check. You will also have a local anaesthetic injection or you might be given general anesthesia. If you have a general anesthetic, you will be unconscious during the operation. If you have a regional anesthetic, you will be awake but won’t feel anything around your shoulder.
The procedure to replace your shoulder joint usually takes about 2 hours. Once your surgery is finished, you will be moved into the recovery room. You will be wearing a removable canvass arm sling to support and protect your shoulder. You will need to keep your arm in this sling while you’re sleeping and during meals. The nurses will monitor your blood pressure, pulse and temperature, and give you pain medication as needed.
Your doctor will use either a standard metal or a specially designed plastic implant to create the new shoulder joint. The humeral (arm bone) side of the new joint is made of cobalt chrome or a similar hard-wearing metal alloy, and the socket side is made of medical grade polyethylene. Your surgeon will place these in your arm bone, using pegs to secure them and cement to make a permanent joint. Then the surgeon will close your skin and muscles with staples or a dissolving suture under the skin.
You will be given antibiotics before surgery to prevent infection. The most common signs of infection are drainage from the wound, fever and swelling of the area around your wound. You should call your doctor right away if you have these symptoms. Infections after shoulder surgery are very rare because of the special precautions used in hospitals to sterilize equipment and wash the surgical site.
Stiffness (10%)
You might not regain normal range of motion of your shoulder after the operation. It is important to follow the physical therapy program that your surgeon and therapist provide. You should not do any heavy lifting or other repetitive overhead activity until your shoulder has healed.
Unsightly scar (1%)
The scar on your shoulder should fade to a thin, pale line by one year after surgery. You can use scar treatments, such as silicone gels or massage, to help it heal faster and look better.닥터케빈의원
