Vaginal molding is a technique to maintain the vaginal structure after surgeries.
A mold is usually a hollow cylinder with one or more closed ends, which is applied to the neovagina. This is done to prevent the contraction of the neovagina during sexual activity and to preserve the vaginal depth. 질필러
In recent years, various materials have been used to make vaginal molds. Some of these include silicone foam, vacuum expandable condom molds, and polyethylene bag filled with glass wool. Another type of material is biomimetic TPU, which is hygienic and semi-permanent.
An important feature of a good gynecologic vaginal molding is its elasticity. If it is not able to support the neovagina, it will contract and will cause pain. It is also important to use a molding that is made of a hard material, which should be in place until sexual activities are resumed.
The McIndoe-style vaginoplasty, for example, involves creating a neovagina, lining it with skin graft, and then allowing it to heal. This method is successful in some cases, but it is not always effective.
To improve on the technique, Jamie McCartney and his girlfriend developed a unique process for internal vaginal casting. They adapted the techniques that dentists use for molding inside the mouth. This technique allows the patient to maintain the neovagina and reduces the risk of wound infection.
Three-dimensional (3D) printed vaginal molds can be a good option to use in this type of reconstruction. They are easy to produce, cost-effective, and can be customized to suit individual needs. Although it is still early in the field of 3D printing, this technology is now widely accessible and inexpensive. 질성형수술

Vaginal molds are used for a variety of reasons, including to help maintain the neovagina after surgery, to treat a neovaginal stenosis, or to prevent the contraction of the neovagina. In this case study, the procedure is used for the post-surgical management of a woman with non-syndromic agenesis of the lower vagina.
The case presented in this study showed that a specially designed vaginal mold could significantly decrease the contracture of the neovagina. This could decrease the rate of infections, as well as the risk of skin graft shearing. Additionally, it could maximize the initial uptake of the graft, which could lead to the reduction of the contracture.
As a result, the neovagina was reconstructed successfully using a three-dimensional (3D) printed vaginal mould. It was used in seven days after surgery. The mold was customized and printed using an ALMOND 3D printer. All patients were instructed to wear the mold for at least 12 months.
After six months of use, all patients were able to resume menstruation. One patient did not show vaginal stenosis, and another patient did not complain of discomfort. She was also able to achieve a normal menstrual cycle.
Various materials are used to make vaginal molds, including a cotton-filled condom mold, silicone foam, and a vacuum expandable condom mold. In addition, a special, multi-holed polyacetal vaginal mold was used to allow drainage of serous discharge.
